Scion xB (2005)

I couldn't wait for things to dry up before taking pics. The xB is as unique-looking and fun to drive as the Suzuki Samurai back in '87. And this is the first car since then that I've been excited about. (the Mini Cooper doesn't really count because that's Eva's... but the "box" is mine! LOL) In spite of reports to the contrary, the xB's acceleration is NOT that bad.

One of the 2 option I ordered was the Alloy wheels. These are just plain 7 spoke alloy wheels but they look so much better than the sad steel wheels with plastic wheel covers. The tint on those windows is the factory tint! Very nice!

The "box" (that's what xB owners call it) looks great sitting next to the Cooper. A pair of fun-to-drive and very inexpensive vehicles.

When you see a picture of an xB by itself, it is hard to tell how big or small it is. But when seen with another car, you get a better idea of its size.

The dash is very, very plain. A simple instrument cluster near the center, with plenty of shelves, pockets, and other places for storing stuff. Power Steering, Power Windows, remote power door locks, AC, traction control, front/rear wipers, and power mirrors are all standard equipment.

The interior consists of plastic and different textured cloth. It is a simple but clean design, and the mix of material gives the interior a higher quality feel than one would expect from a vehicle so inexpensive.

The xB is famous for its spacious interior. And it lives up to the hype. Although far smaller than the Sonata or the GMC Jimmy we had, the interior is actually LARGER! Very comformtable and airy.

Here's another view of the dash. A high-powered 6 speaker Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo comes standard. The CD play can play MP3 CDs that have been burned on a PC... so I can put 200+ songs on a single CD!!!

Here's a view of the low entry into the vehicle. With some cars you have to step high over the door sash and then step in to the car. But with the xB, the sash is not very tall, making entry even easier. You can also get a better view of the interior... which is a dark charcoal. (not the light grey shown in the previous photos)

Here's the rear cargo area with the 2nd option we purchased...the rear cargo cover. The boxy shape of the xB means more cargo space. There is more cargo space in the xB than in the Kia Sedona minivan!

In the cargo area is another surprise... there is a carpeted hatch that lifts up to expose yet another place for storage.
